v0.4.0 — Typewriter Mode, Cover Letters, and Dialog Windows

A focused release bringing distraction-free writing, manuscript collaboration tools, and a desktop-grade interface. Typewriter mode locks your caret to a fixed line and lets you choose from optional Courier Prime font and typing sounds. Cover Letter authoring now has its own panel with flexible docking and a new export dialog. Modal dialogs are now draggable and resizable on desktop. Plus in-app support requests and dozens of reliability fixes.

Typewriter mode

Write without distractions. Turn on Typewriter mode in Preferences → Editor or press Ctrl+Alt+T (Windows/Linux) or ⌘+Option+T (macOS).

• Fixed writing line — your caret pins to a horizontal line you choose (High, Middle, or Low on the screen), and the manuscript scrolls beneath it. Keep your focus exactly where you want it.
• Optional Courier Prime font — toggle the typewriter font in Preferences for a classic monospace look that echoes a typewriter page.
• Typing sounds — optional key, spacebar, and return sounds while Typewriter mode is active. Enable sounds and adjust the volume in Preferences → Editor. Read more in the Writing in Scriblit guide.

Cover Letters

A new authoring panel for your cover letter, right alongside your manuscript. See the Cover Letter guide for details.

• Dedicated panel — write and edit your cover letter in plain text without touching your manuscript. On desktop, choose which side it docks to (left or right) in Preferences → Editor. On mobile, it appears as a bottom sheet.
• Combined View — when your Cover Letter and Notes panels dock to the same side on desktop, they open as tabs in a single combined panel for easier toggling between them.
• Smart export — a new Export Cover Letter dialog lets you choose your file type (PDF, Word, or plain text) and scope (cover letter only, or cover letter + manuscript together). Read the Saving & Exporting guide for more.

Desktop windows you can move and resize

The Preferences, Confirm, filename, and other desktop dialogs are now draggable and resizable.

• Drag the header to move a dialog around the screen.
• Drag the bottom-right corner to resize a dialog to your preferred dimensions.
• Position remembered — your resize and position choices carry over to the next dialog you open in the same session, so repeated dialogs open where you left them.

In-app support requests

Get help without leaving the editor. Help → Contact Support… now opens a form right in the app instead of an external link. Tell us your system, browser, and what you need help with, and we'll hear from you.
