Privacy Policy
Effective June 20, 2026. This describes what Scriblit (operated by Rich and Pamela Morgan, “Scriblit,” “we,” “us”) collects, why, and how it’s used. Our short version: your manuscript never reaches our servers — only account and billing information does.
1. Your manuscript content
We do not collect, upload, or store your manuscript text, illustration notes, or project files on our servers. Drafting, saving, and exporting happen on your device. If you choose to import from or export to Google Drive, your file is relayed through our infrastructure to Google’s API and back to you without being written to any database or persistent storage we control.
2. Information we do collect
To create and operate your account, we collect:
- Account information — email address, display name, and avatar image, via our authentication provider, Clerk.
- Billing information — subscription status, plan, and billing history. Payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Google authorization tokens — if you connect Google Drive, we store an encrypted access/refresh token used solely to make Drive API requests on your behalf. We don’t access your wider Google account or any Drive files you haven’t opened through Scriblit.
- Operational logs — IP address and request metadata, retained briefly for rate-limiting and abuse prevention, and account-level audit records (e.g. subscription changes) for support and security purposes.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts on the Service.
3. How we use this information
- To authenticate you and maintain your account session;
- To process payments, manage your subscription, and determine feature access;
- To make Google Drive requests you initiate (import, export, search, recent files);
- To prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, and investigate security incidents; and
- To respond to support requests you send us.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers that operate Scriblit on our behalf, and only as needed for them to do so:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Google — Drive API access, only when you connect your Google account, and only for the files and actions you request.
- Cloudflare and Neon (PostgreSQL) — infrastructure hosting for our application servers and account/billing database.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Scriblit or our users. We do not otherwise share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Data retention and deletion
We retain account and billing information for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterward as needed for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes. If you disconnect Google Drive, we delete the stored authorization token. You can request deletion of your account and associated account/billing data by contacting us at the email below; manuscript content stored locally on your own device is unaffected and remains yours to keep, export, or delete at any time.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at the email below. We will respond within a reasonable time and verify your identity before acting on the request.
7. Children’s privacy
Scriblit is a professional writing tool intended for adult writers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International users
Our infrastructure providers operate servers in multiple regions. By using the Service, you understand that your account and billing information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including the United States.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll provide reasonable notice — for example, by posting an updated effective date on this page or notifying you in the app.
10. Contact
